Piskies

Congratulations!

You have stumbled into a clue! Piskies are notorious tricksters who just love to take things and hide them for others to find. And you know, they have clearly been busy hiding things all around POP Cafe and the local town judging by the number of doors that have been seen leading back to Pisky land.

How many Pisky doors could you find?

In the misty, mossy wilds of Cornwall, there live the piskies—tiny, sprightly creatures with a deep love of mischief and a worrying lack of respect for your sense of direction. You might know them as “Pixies” but that’s not their original name. These little sprites are more ancient than words, and have a long history in the west of England.

These aren’t your average glittery fairies – oh no, piskies are the sort who’ll giggle from behind a hedge as you wander in confused little circles, wondering why the path you were certainly on a moment ago, has just mysteriously vanished. Has that ever happened to you? Well its possible you were just piskie-led. It is not for no reason they do this to the unwary traveler. Piskie gold is real and legend has it that piskies love nothing better than to trick anyone who gets too close into completely losing their sense of direction. The old Cornish knew how to deal with this sort of nonsense however. They had tricks, charms, and secret methods passed down through generations in the form of stories and songs. Sadly many of these have been lost to the fog of time, but its still possible for those with a curious mind to recall the old ways.

The tradition of hidden doorways leading between this world and other hidden worlds inhabited by dwarfs, elves, goblins and faeries has influenced many writers and their work including J.R.R Tolkien, Thomas Hardy, C.S.Lewis’ Narnia chronicles, Harry Potter, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Alice in Wonderland and the fabulous “Neverwhere” by Neil Gaiman.

Stay curious, friends.
